Future Stars in conjunction with Basketball England are enormously proud to announce Joan Plaza as the keynote speaker at our coaching clinic. The former play-caller from Real Madrid, Unicaja Malaga and Zalgiris Kaunas poses unrivalled knowledge and experience from the top level in Euroleague, EuroCup and Spanish ACB. Coach Plaza boasts the unique achievement of winning EuroCup twice alongside the Spanish Championship with Real Madrid.
Coach Plaza will deliver 2 lectures based on ‘Creating from Pivots and Rebound Priorities’
Coach Plaza will be supported by the Head Coach of the Junior programme at Porsche BBA Ludwigsburg, Keeryoung Rhee. Coach Rhee started his successful coaching career at the German powerhouse Bayern Munich where he also overlooked the junior programme. Coach Rhee currently combines his duties as a Head of the Junior programme alongside working with the senior Porsche BBA Ludwigsburg team competing in the BBL. To complement the subjects covered by Coach Plaza, Coach Rhee will focus on ”Individual training for an outside player.”
Delivery of both the coaches will be supplemented by Richard Stokes, the former Director of Officiating at Euroleague, who will talk about the most up to date aspects of refereeing. Richard Stokes lecture will be called “Working with Rules and Referees”
The Future Stars 2024 International Coaching Clinic is delivered in partnership with Basketball England.
Brian Aldred, Delivery Manager for Coaching, Basketball England stated ‘We are delighted to collaborate with Future Stars to provide coaches with an excellent upskilling opportunity. The clinic will have coaching and development of young players at its centre and provides a platform for coaches with a proven track-record across Europe to share the secrets of their success. The Clinic is suitable for aspiring coaches at every level, who will not only learn from some of Europe’s top coaches but also have the opportunity to observe some high quality European and English players on the court.
Joan Plaza will replace Coach Zan Tabak who unfortunately had to cancel his appearane due to personal circumstances.
The clinic will take place on Saturday 24th August at Brunel University, London, and will start at 09:00 to 13:00 and will run alongside the Future Stars International tournaments.
