Future Stars National Coaching Clinic 2025

Future Stars in conjunction with Basketball England is proud to announce Euroleague and NBA Champion, Zan Tabak as the keynote speaker of the Future Stars National Coaching Clinic 2025.

Currently only 13 people in history have made it into the exclusive club of basketball players who have claimed both Euroleague and NBA Championship Titles with the majority being legendary megastars such as Tony  Kukoc, Bob Mc Adoo or Manu Ginobili. However, none of this exclusive club have progressed to follow their playing career with an equally successful coaching career such as Zan Tabak.

Zan Tabak made his debut at the legendary Jugoplastika Split at the age of fifteen. A few years later, along with his more decorated teammates Dino Radja and Toni Kukoc he led the club to three consecutive  European Championships (1989–91). This feat has yet to be repeated in the modern era of European basketball.

In the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, along with previous Split teammates and Drazen Petrovic, Zan Tabak represented the newly independent state of Croatia. The team performed remarkably well and won the silver medal; they were beaten only by the star-studded USA Dream Team.

Three years after being originally drafted in 1991, Zan Tabak was signed by the Houston Rockets on July 20, 1994. He spent this season as a backup to the legendary Hakeem Olajuwon leading Houston to the franchise’s second NBA title. Zan Tabak continued his NBA career with the Toronto Raptors, Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers.

With Indiana, Zan Tabak registered his second trip to the NBA Finals in 2000 where playing as a backup to Rik Smith they suffered defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Zan Tabak has spent the remaining four years of his playing career in Spain with Real Madrid, DKV Joventut and Unicaja Malaga where in 2005 he won the King’s Cup.

In the first season after his retirement (2006), Zan Tabak started working as an Assistant Coach at Real Madrid which he combined with the duties for the New York Knicks as an international scout.

In 2011, he debuted as head coach with Sant Josep Girona, then in future seasons continued to work with ACB outfits Fuenlabrada, Baskonia, Betis Sevilla and San Pablo Burgos. In the 2016-17 season, Zan Tabak became the Head coach of the Israeli and Euroleague giant, Maccabi Tel Aviv where he won the Israeli National Cup.

Zan Tabak was the Head Coach of the Slovakian National Team from 2019 to 2021 leading them to the second round of pre-qualification for the 2023 World Cup while simultaneously taking the helm as Head Coach of Stelmet Zielona Gora in Poland wining the National Championship.

On May 9, 2022, Zan Tabak signed with Trefl Sopot in PLK which he led to the Polish Championship in 2024 and 3rd place finish in 2025.

During the Future Stars International Coaching Clinic, Zan Tabak will deliver two separate lectures on: “Individual interior game workout” and “Interior game team tactics”.

In traditional format, Coach Tabak will be supported by the Head Coaches of the teams participating in the Future Stars International tournament that will update delegates on the most up to date trends in developing young talent.
